Citieslab supports IAP and Government of West Java Province in hosting “Empowering the Role of Urban-Rural Linkage Toward Integrated Action on Localization of SDGs and Climate Goals at City Region.”

In the Urban-20 Sherpa Meeting held in late March 2022, issue notes and a draft communiqué were prepared, forming the focal points of the urban aspects discussed within the G20. “Economic and social recovery for all” emerged as a crucial issue, particularly concerning the urban-rural linkage. On June 3, 2022, Citieslab supported IAP, and the Government of West Java Province organized an international seminar bringing together four speakers representing various urban stakeholders, both domestic and international, to refine the draft communiqué. The seminar’s theme was “Empowering the Role of Urban-Rural Linkage Toward Integrated Action on Localization of SDGs and Climate Goals at City Region.” There were at least four primary areas of discussion to sharpen the issue notes on “Economic Recovery for All” in the draft communiqué, which included:

  1. Regional Circulating Ecological Sphere (Regional-CES) (Dr. Bijon Kumer Mitra)
  2. Enriching Farmers’ Knowledge to Cope Better to Climate Change: Strengthening the Role of Rural People (Prof. Yunita Winarto)
  3. Knowledge Transfers for Blue Urbanism (Dr. Johannes Herbeck)
  4. Climate Resilience Principles for Inclusive & Sustainable Infrastructure Investments (Martin Voss)
